Alexa Park Las Vegas: A Neil Diamond Tribute
The legendary Rob Garrett’s “King of Diamonds Neil Diamond Tribute” Las Vegas tribute show keeps going strong in the “MODERN SHOWROOMS” at Alexis Park Las Vegas Hotel.
Neil Diamond is one of the best-selling and most iconic singer/songwriters in pop/rock music history.
More than just being one of the top-selling and concert drawing artists ever, he’s also composed the soundtrack of our lives — including some of the most unforgettable songs on the planet.
In early 2018, shortly before his 77th birthday, Neil Diamond announced his retirement from performing after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.
However, Diamond’s on-stage legacy continues to be celebrated for audiences across the globe through Las Vegas entertainer Rob Garrett, widely regarded as the top Neil Diamond tribute artist.
Ask Alexa “who is America’s number one Neil Diamond tribute artist,” and you’ll hear the same name.
Like his idol, here Rob Garrett was a Brooklyn, New York native.
In May 1974, his parents moved the family from New York City to the Las Vegas Valley, where, two years later, he witnessed his first live Neil Diamond show when Diamond debuted in Las Vegas to record crowds at the Aladdin Hotel’s “Theater for the Performing Arts” in July 1976.
Garrett went on to see him another 16 times across the country—right up until Diamond’s last American show at the Los Angeles Forum on August 12, 2017.
In 1980, Garrett started his own band, “Rock n Roll Heaven,” and enjoyed a successful 15-year run in Las Vegas and across the nation before making the move from lead singer of a cover band to a full-time tribute performer dedicated to one of his boyhood inspirations.
In 1995, Garrett was selected by Paul Revere, leader of “The Raiders” to portray Neil Diamond in the Honolulu production of “Legends in Concert”.
What was meant to be a short engagement turned into a long-term hit show.
By August 1998, Garrett returned home to Las Vegas and continued to perform with “Legends” for another couple of years before deciding to create his own tribute production.
He began a busy tour circuit, building a devoted fan base along the way—earning the title “King of Diamonds Neil Diamond Tribute.”
He continues to perform to sold-out venues nationwide, often in venues reserved for national acts.
Garrett has also won numerous awards, including “Male Tribute Artist of the Year.”
“Since Neil Diamond retired, I’ve felt a strong sense of responsibility to keep his legacy alive for future generations. It’s something I never get tired of doing,” he said.
On May 19th officially proclaimed the date “Rob Garrett Day,” commemorating Rob’s 50 years as a Las Vegas resident and 44 years as a professional Vegas performer.
Now in this year, Garrett celebrates 45 years as an active Las Vegas entertainer, with the last 30 years devoted solely to paying tribute to the now-retired Neil Diamond.
It has been said that no other tribute artist is so closely identified with the original performer as Garrett, who has appeared at more Vegas stages than any other.
Since the June closing of “A Beautiful Noise” (the Broadway jukebox musical based on Diamond’s life story), Rob Garrett’s “King of Diamonds” show has become the only active Neil Diamond tribute production in America.
The Alexis Park Resort is located at 375 E. Harmon Ave., about a quarter mile from Paradise Road.
